Drawing

Meditations (2023-present) is a series of drawings visualizing meditation practices.

Soul to Squeeze (2022) is a multimedia body of work that grapples with the uncomfortable transition from sickness to wellness. The artwork is drawn from my own experience with long-term illness and recovery.  With the visual language of meridians from Traditional Chinese Medicine, I tracked daily emotional and physical turbulence through meditation and cumulative drawing.  Over the course of 9 months, I practiced meridian-based mediation and then intuitively drew on templates of my own body to create abstracted meridian representations of my internal landscape.  I am interested in the invisible, liminal spaces within the spectrum of illness and wellness. I experience this transitional state as an internal squeeze or a growing pain that often goes unspoken.  I explore this unspoken space to express the precarity and entangled nature of the body and mind during the process of healing.
Italian Meridian Charts (2021) investigates lingering ancestral influences and legacies explored through iconic Italian and Italian-American figures. Drawing inspiration from my personal experience with Traditional Chinese Medicine, I created meridian charts that merge these cultural elements. This work explores the intersection of heritage and healing, blending ancient practices with contemporary reflections.

Meridian Charts (2020-2021) is a series of peronalized meridian charts based on individual ailments, moods, and aesthetic preferences. The charts are meant to offer a guide towards healing for each individual.

Nothing (2020) is a mixed media project, utilizing databent video and pyrographic experiments on wood and paper.  The materials and imagery are inspired by the fall of a large branch from a 200+ year old tree at the artist’s childhood home. The project ruminates on the parallels between the state of the tree and the current failed state of America and its citizens.  In combining natural materials with combustible tools, the artist partners with the medium, while also relinquishing control to it, exploring the tree’s life as a witness to the society that surrounds it.

Selected drawings from the last decade.
